Após dois adiamentos e 6 meses após o lançamento de seu bem sucedido EP de estreia, Catherine Valentinova retorna com seu primeiro álbum de estúdio, The Omen, onde estão inclusas as quatro músicas previamente lançadas. Nesse disco, Catherine traz uma estética muito mais dark do que seu primeiro projeto.

CONTEXTO
The Omen, apesar de fazer parte da mesma história do EP de estreia, não tem tanta conexão com o mesmo; Enquanto Mediocre se passa seis anos antes de sua morte e era centrado na questão emocional de Catherine, The Omen se passa apenas dois meses antes de sua morte, e tem como centralização a questão psíquica de Catherine. O álbum, em um contexto geral, é um presságio que leva ao surto definitivo de Catherine e consequentemente, à sua morte aos 29 anos. O álbum trata questões como superexposição midiática, saúde mental e narcisismo, se afastando da narrativa romântica de sua estreia.

A primeira música traz uma introdução para a história, onde na realidade é Catherine após o surto contando para um psiquiatra o que ocorreu. Na música, Catherine se defende de seus atos, dizendo que mesmo tendo agido errado considera seus motivos justos.

Famous é a primeira música do álbum a falar sobre a relação caótica de Catherine com sua fama. Na música, a cantora relata o quanto a superexposição afeta em seu estado mental, e o quanto a mídia pode ser invasiva, o quanto a perseguem e como expõem sua privacidade apenas por algum furo.

Lançado como primeiro single do álbum, Marylin Monroe é outra música que fala sobre a relação da artista com a fama. Continuando a linha de Famous, a cantora fala sobre como a dor é algo que parece belo aos olhos do público. A música faz referência a Marylin Monroe, e como a sua dor é romantizada até os dias de hoje.

A Conversation With a Mirror (4:46)
Saindo da temática fama, A Conversation With a Mirror foca mais no interior de Catherine; a música é um desabafo da artista, que não consegue controlar a si própria e se sentir sempre insuficiente, pois quer sempre ser a melhor. Essa também é a primeira música do álbum que se tem menção a incêndio, fato que vai ser importante para as próximas faixas. Na faixa, assim como em Attention, a cantora não assume a responsabilidade de seus atos e culpa os outros por estar surtando.

Após os primeiros sinais de estar surtando, Desperate Interlude serve como uma transição para esse momento. Catherine começa a entrar em estado de surto de verdade. Essa faixa funcionaria como uma perda de controle.

Blessings By The Devil é a única faixa produzida em sua maioria por Klaus Henderson, que também é o artista convidado para essa música. A faixa, dentro do contexto do álbum, pode ser considerada como o momento que a artista reconhece que seus demônios internos estão a dominando, e que ela é a única pessoa que a aprisiona. A faixa demonstra a cantora olhando para seu interior, e percebendo que a sua sanidade está indo embora.

Mais uma reflexão da artista, Catherine nessa música reconhece que precisa de alguém ao seu lado, já que estando sozinha ela tem que lidar consigo mesma e com seus medos. A cantora diz que quando tem alguém ao seu lado, ela consegue controlar seu lado perverso, diferentemente de quando está sozinha e tem que lidar com seus próprios demônios. Catherine trata relações sociais como distração de sua própria mente.

Mais uma faixa da cantora fantasiando com fogo, The Fire é uma faixa onde a cantora está planejando o fim de seu legado. Dentro do contexto do álbum, a cantora encara o incêndio como uma forma de renascer.

Essa faixa é um dos primeiros sinais de desistência da artista em lutar pela sua sanidade. Nessa faixa, Catherine fala como em toda sua vida ela esteve melancólica, e que a melancolia na realidade é a sua melhor versão, já que sua versão ruim na realidade é a insanidade. A artista trata como céu e inferno o bem e o mal que existe dentro de cada um.

Como o nome propõe, essa faixa retrata uma desistência definitiva. Nessa faixa, Catherine deixa seus demônios a dominarem e é a faixa onde o surto que a leva a cometer o incêndio se torna realidade, e não mais uma fantasia de sua cabeça.

E finalmente, na última faixa tudo se concretiza. Catherine concretiza tudo que esteve planejando, e na faixa a artista retrata como os demônios interiores ainda existem durante o surto, mas a falta de discernimento do bem e do mal a faz não ter remorso nenhum do que está fazendo. Com a concretização do presságio visto durante o álbum inteiro, o álbum termina com o incêndio causado por Catherine.
